Kyle Hillman, President

My journey intertwines professional business consulting and nonprofit management. Initially a part-time role in a nonprofit turned into a director level opportunity, managing operations across two distinct facilities. This experience was my gateway into understanding

the intricate business aspects of nonprofit work.

From the very beginning, I was captivated by the organization's cause, mission, and values. It was exhilarating to communicate these to our staff and witness them embody these principles daily. We redefined the essence of belonging.

Fast-forward several years (and states) later, an idea came about with some families of our wonderful kiddos – “we should start a nonprofit!” This journey is ongoing; we are young, evolving, but most importantly, making a meaningful impact under the banner: "Advancing the Science. Smiles Included."

At the heart of my motivation is my handsome little 6 year-old son, Rowen. When we received his diagnosis in early 2020, my wife Jessica and I navigated the uncertainty with determination. It was the "what now" that seemed most daunting. Finding a community on Facebook was a lifeline, connecting us with families who shared our experience.

Today, Rowen is thriving, encircled by the love of his three sisters. We celebrate his every achievement, feeling uplifted by the support of our friends, family, therapists and caregivers, and the extended family we’ve found in our global network of the SKDEAS community. Despite the physical distances, the bonds we've nurtured are remarkably strong. Being a part of creating and sustaining these connections has brought profound fulfillment to our lives.

A few traits about me: I have a passion for numbers and Excel; data analysis is my forte. I thrive on processes, structure, and order, often relying on lists and checkmarks to maintain focus. Helping others succeed brings me joy, and I'm known to give 110% in everything I do. While I find it challenging to decline requests, I'm also aware of my limits.

As a big picture thinker, I deeply appreciate the journey we've embarked on, always mindful of our humble beginnings and how far we've come. This perspective helps me stay focused on our long-term goals while cherishing the steps we take to get there.
